Spring program

Interested in joining but prefer to fundraise in the spring?

The BSSF Spring Program is a unique spring fundraising program that provides an alternative method of participation through the Ben Stelter School Fundraiser. This initiative allows schools to raise money in the spring of 2026, where each $1,000 they raise at a school earns them a McDavid Draw Ballot. The school that wins this draw will be awarded a special visit from Oilers captain Connor McDavid during December or January of the 2026-2027 school year, making it an exciting opportunity for student-led fundraising efforts.

No, selecting student leaders is not required; it is recommended as it's a great opportunity for students to get involved! Please note that some additional BSSF prizes, which will be announced in the fall, do require student leaders to be selected.


All communication coming from our team goes to the school staff representative (the contact listed on the sign-up form). The teacher contact can always be changed if needed, and schools can have more than one. Most commonly, schools will share the school emails of their student leaders, and the coordinators on our student-led team will send communication to both the teachers and the student leaders. Our team will always copy a teacher representative from a participating school in all communication unless instructed otherwise by the teacher.


Student leaders and/or team members may reach out to our team at anytime for any help with their fundraising, and they are more than welcome to book support calls via our support system.


While the BSSF does have a 3-week "main fundraising period" in the fall where most schools raise money during - it is not required that you follow the timeline of the fundraiser. Schools can fundraise as early as October. If requested, September fundraising can also work. In order to enter the McDavid draw for the 2026-2027, proceeds need to be in by the donation deadline, which will either be late December or Early January. Schools that wish to fundraise during the spring of 2027 are elegible to enter the McDavid draw for the next (2027-2028) school year.


The exact components of the 2026 fall fundraising campaign, including student leader prizes,  school prizes (other than the McDavid visit) and exact dates will be available in August. Participating schools will get a welcome package with this information, as well as some items to kickstart their fundraiser delivered to the school at this time. Signing up early gives early access to the welcome package and more time for planning! 


The Ben Stelter School Fundraiser has spring participation options available, where schools can fundraise in the spring and get McDavid ballots for the next school year, giving schools a chance to raise money in the spring and have a chance at the McDavid Prize.
